“Give a man a leash and he’s a dog trainer” Everybody knows someone or has an uncle that trains dogs but dog training is a specialized profession. A dog trainer understands dog psychology, the differences of identifying canine behaviors and how to communicate it to results. A trainer also has the knowledge and experience with different breeds and behaviors to identify which direction to go by formulating a program that will yield the best results in turn saving you time and your sanity.
.
.

On average an experienced dog trainer charges between $100 – $200 per hour. If you’re in the market for specialized training, $400 plus.
.
.

View training as an investment, chances are you’ll own your dog for many years, doesn’t it make sense that your dog is obedient rather than disobedient. View training as an education, an educated client is a better client. A good trainer will teach skills that will last beyond your current dog and you’ll be able to apply this knowledge to future dogs.
.
.

With so many variables in dog training, a trainer will have to do his due diligence in identifying what’s the best route to get your dog trained. Some variables include; how many sessions will be needed, the severity of behavioral issues, hours a client is available, and if the owner is doing their part in working with the dog when the trainer isn’t there (A good trainer will know if you’re working with them)
.
.

Scheduling is important as most clients are working during the week which limits the hours available to train as good trainers are working numerous dogs throughout the week leaving weekends and evenings available to meet (trainers have lives too) Then there’s the unexpected client drop off without reason. This is hard on most trainers as they rely on every dog they train to make money.
