Have you ever hung out with someone long enoug…

Have you ever hung out with someone long enough to take on some of their habits and sayings.

Your dog will do just that as well. Let me give an example: At one point in my yard I had 10 or so working/game Pit Bulls and a large headed, very mastiffy Dogue de Bordeaux named Reno. This yard was dominated by active, high driven sport dogs. Reno on the other hand was a hard headed, slow footed mastiff that his previous owner deemed lazy.
.
.

I placed Reno in the yard to be a physical intimidator (guard dog) for anyone thinking to jump into. This large, somewhat cumbersome dog would just lay around until he saw me come out to feed when he wanted his share. A few months goes by and I begin to see Reno act differently. His body language had changed, his demeanor showed more vigor and he had lost a lot of body fat and replaced it with muscle tone.
.
.

Another couple months goes by and I began to take him to train as well as for walks through the trails with the other dogs and I noticed he over time had become one of the little guys that he was there to protect. He no longer the slow footed Mastiff but began to think of himself as one of my Pit Bulls running around like a banshee, jumping walls and trying to hang from trees.

What I had observed is the event of how a pack of dogs that are predominantly one way can sway a rogue dog to act, think, run and even eat like them. Dogs are pack animals and in the event that the pack is predominantly of a certain breed then the one dog that is not of that breed can inherit characteristics of the predominant breed.
.
.

Let’s this soak in about dogs, they spend a majority of their lives living with a family in a home. They inherit cues from each member of the household and learn to adapt to deal with them. To be a productive and happy family member, said dog must be the ball dog with one family member and the calm dog with another member to interact with the people in his home. In the end, what is being taught and how it is relayed to your dog will play a major order to how they react back.
