Part 1 Who would of thought discussing fruits…

Part 1
Who would of thought discussing fruits and veggies would lead to a contentious conversation about what we feed our pets. Even some veterinarians would only suggest fruits and veggies as an aid to losing weight and/or don’t believe that their necessary for a dog to eat. Some raw based feeders are against fruits or veggies in a dogs diet believing meats provide sufficient nutrients.
.
.

On the other hand they’re are those that advocate vegan diets for dogs mainly due to concerns about toxin levels in (all) meats as well as the quality and nutrition of kibble. On top of that, some type of “greenery”
isn’t bad, period. Read on why
.
.

•Balancing Alkalinity and Acidity: Protein in meat makes the body acidic which can contribute to inflammation of your dogs organs. Organs like the liver, kidneys, pancreas, gallbladder, heart, and gastrointestinal will function healthier in a more alkalize environment.
.
.

•Fiber and Vitamins: Raw veggies are better and healthier than those coming from a grain source, suppling healthy soluble fiber which is easier for your dog to digest. Although meat sources contribute sufficient vitamins, most dogs will still fair well with the added boost that fruits and veggies bring.
.
.

•Please remember: Phytonutrients are only in vegetable material, something meat can’t say and few if any kibble can. Phytonutrients are antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, anti aging antihelminthic (anti-worms), anti-degeneration and, most importantly, anti-cancer. Also remember that fruit and veggies are an excellent source of water.
.
.

•Antioxidants: Vegetables, fruits and herbs are full of antioxidants which protect against free radicals (unstable molecules that are a major cause of aging) and again, you can only get them from fruits and vegetables.
.
.

•Omega 3 and Minerals: Grasses and algae (phytoplankton) have a full complement of essential fatty acids and are rich in Omega-3 which reduces inflammation and supports the brain and central nervous system.

The behavior of your dog is not much different…

The behavior of your dog is not much different than that of a human when it comes to doing something negative to gain attention. As an example, a troubled child will act out negatively to get a reaction. Dogs will too. Barking is a great example of a dog doing something negatively to gain your attention and get a reaction even if it’s not a good one.
.
.

Another example would be a dog urinating by the door that he normally leaves out of to urinate too. Being more observing of your dog’s habits, mannerisms, and movements will begin to tell you a lot of their understanding and how they communicate back.
.
.

Pay better attention to those cues while asking yourself, “what is my dog trying to tell me, instead of why is my dog doing this” will be a game changer in the relationship you share with your pet.

What you do is begin by flipping your dog over…

What you do is begin by flipping your dog over and counting how many nipples your dog has 😂 If you actually went and did that, I don’t know what to say. 😂

Note: a dogs size will typically determine its lifespan, smaller dogs tend to live longer than larger breeds. So how old is a dog compared to a humans age.?
.
.

First off the whole “seven dog years equals one human year” isn’t accurate. Here’s how it breaks down. The first (1st) year of a dogs life is the equivalent to fifteen (15) years of a human life. How? Within the first (1st) year, a dog goes from being born to almost full size, his mental state is capable enough of fending for itself and the dog is sexually mature enough to be bred or have a litter. It’s safe to say a human would fall into the same category.
.
.

This is how the SEVEN (7) years per one (1) dog years was figured out. Humans average life span is eighty four (84) years where a dogs average is twelve (12) years. When you divide twelve (12) into eighty four (84) you’ll get the average of seven (7) years.
.
.

Because of different factors (health, environment, breed) not all dogs would age the same, so an average six (6) year old small dog would be about forty two (42) years old whereas a large breed dog would be about forty five (45) years. Again this is a roundabout of age since many factors can determine age.

Fat or husky? Weight is a touchie subject but I think a very important one for pet ownership. All too often fluffy dog owners attribute their dog’s bulk to big breed, big bones, of a fluffy coat. And while huskies, malamutes, Aussies, Goldens, and other breeds DO have long or fluffy coats, it’s important for your dog’s health, joints, and longevity that you keep their weight down and realize what is fluff and what is fat. The malamute shown is very overweight, notice how he is very boxy or rectangular shaped and he has no waist (even boys should have waist lines!). We all love our dogs and recognize that the lifespan of a dog is way too short, but keeping your dog at a healthy weight is one really easy way to help improve the quality of your dog’s life.
