Have you ever heard the quote “you are what yo…

Have you ever heard the quote “you are what you eat” alike people, dogs are what they eat as well. Heart, kidney and liver disease are at epidemic numbers, 40% of dogs are obese in the US. with 46% of dogs dying of cancer in the every year.

.

Dry dog foods contribute to gum and tooth disease and dental disease affects over 70 percent of dogs and cats before the age of two.

So what’s the common denominator here, the Unnatural diets (low quality kibble) we feed them. Let’s open our minds and see what else is out there to offer. Raw meats, fruits and veggies.

Part 1 Who would of thought discussing fruits…

Part 1
Who would of thought discussing fruits and veggies would lead to a contentious conversation about what we feed our pets. Even some veterinarians would only suggest fruits and veggies as an aid to losing weight and/or don’t believe that their necessary for a dog to eat. Some raw based feeders are against fruits or veggies in a dogs diet believing meats provide sufficient nutrients.
.
.

On the other hand they’re are those that advocate vegan diets for dogs mainly due to concerns about toxin levels in (all) meats as well as the quality and nutrition of kibble. On top of that, some type of “greenery”
isn’t bad, period. Read on why
.
.

•Balancing Alkalinity and Acidity: Protein in meat makes the body acidic which can contribute to inflammation of your dogs organs. Organs like the liver, kidneys, pancreas, gallbladder, heart, and gastrointestinal will function healthier in a more alkalize environment.
.
.

•Fiber and Vitamins: Raw veggies are better and healthier than those coming from a grain source, suppling healthy soluble fiber which is easier for your dog to digest. Although meat sources contribute sufficient vitamins, most dogs will still fair well with the added boost that fruits and veggies bring.
.
.

•Please remember: Phytonutrients are only in vegetable material, something meat can’t say and few if any kibble can. Phytonutrients are antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, anti aging antihelminthic (anti-worms), anti-degeneration and, most importantly, anti-cancer. Also remember that fruit and veggies are an excellent source of water.
.
.

•Antioxidants: Vegetables, fruits and herbs are full of antioxidants which protect against free radicals (unstable molecules that are a major cause of aging) and again, you can only get them from fruits and vegetables.
.
.

•Omega 3 and Minerals: Grasses and algae (phytoplankton) have a full complement of essential fatty acids and are rich in Omega-3 which reduces inflammation and supports the brain and central nervous system.
